In this project I created a frogger-like arcade game using HTML5 canvas and object-oriented javascript principles. The lessons emphasized in this project include: scope and variable access, the "this" parameter, functional classes, prototypical classes, superclass and subclasses, HTML5 canvas. The game required creating classes and prototype functions for different elements of the game, namely the player and the enemies. Functions were created to ensure the enemies move in a natural way across the screen and that collisions between the enemies and the player happen logically. The project included writing a README file. Beyond meeting the requirements for the project, a gem class was implemented and a scoreboard was also added to the game.

This project focused on how to approach working with an unfamiliar organizational library, learning its key concepts and features, and how to implement them. I used Knockout.js in this case to create a cat clicker app.

frontend-nanodegree-neighborhood-map-project icon frontend-nanodegree-neighborhood-map-project

In this project I used the Google Maps JavaScript API to create a map of my neighborhood, trigger Google places search requests for areas of interest, and dynamically display them on the map. The map shows places for food and drink in and around the Cap Hill neighborhood in Denver. The categories for the places are listed at the top of the app and, when clicked, will show or hide the the places marked on the map and places listed on the left-hand side that belong to that category. The map also includes a live search feature that filters places to display based on matching the text input of the search, updating with each key stroke of the text entered.

frontend-nanodegree-nyc-move-planner-project icon frontend-nanodegree-nyc-move-planner-project

This was a learning project built around the idea of making an app for planning a move to NYC. The lessons explored ways of using the Google Maps API to introduce new features to the app, such as a search feature using autocomplete to find areas of interest and a listings filter to show apartments based on the commute to your office or other nearby locations.
