during backup, the data is written to the .data.partial file. If the data has been written completely the file is renamed. So if the backup fails for some strange reason, the next incremental backup is going to fail too, because it detects a partial backup in the target directory.
It seems in your case it needs more time to sync() the data to the filesystem, as such the file handle for the partial file
is still open and rename fails.
Im not sure why i sticked to closing the write handle only if the output target is stdout, seems this needs to be changed
to close the write handle allways:
