Can't resolve name when the dockerized app and dockerized dnsmasq on the same host about docker-dnsmasq

I think this is a hairpin NAT problem (containers going out the NAT cannot connect back in to the same NAT). Do we know if Docker supports this?

You could solve it by connecting to the Docker bridge IP (usually 172.17.42.1 but could be different). I think you can also specify a gateway IP when creating a network. You could create a network (docker network create --subnet 192.168.52.0/24 --gateway 192.168.52.1 mynetwork) and then specify this network to attach in both Docker Compose and the dnsmasq container. Your container applications would then use DNS for 192.168.52.1.
